Light Phone II: change the APN

LightOS has no APN screen, but Android's own APN editor is still on the phone. Open it over ADB and edit it on the touchscreen. The change survives reboots.

Steps

  1. Turn on ADB first.

  2. Open the APN editor:

adb shell am start -a android.settings.APN_SETTINGS

Doesn't open? Start Settings instead and go to Network & Internet, Mobile network, Access Point Names:

adb shell am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS
  3. Tap + and fill in your carrier's values. The MCC and MNC have to match the SIM or Android ignores the APN. Read them off the SIM with:

    adb shell getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric

The e-ink screen is slow. Give each tap a full second and don't double-tap.

  4. The phone has no menu button, and Menu is the only way to reach Save. Send it, tap Save, then tap the radio button next to the new APN:

    adb shell input keyevent 82
  5. Go home to LightOS, then toggle airplane mode or reboot and test data:

    adb shell input keyevent 3
